Muscle energy Technique

Muscle Energy Treatment Technique is a form of osteopathic manipulation in which the patient’s muscles are actively used from a precisely controlled position to create motion at a specific joint. Therapists use a knowledge of how joints work individually and together to create movements in joints that are “stuck” because of injury or inactivity. Muscle Energy Techniques use the patient’s muscles to create the necessary force so they are gentle and are not typically painful when performed. They were first described in 1948 by Fred Mitchell, Sr, DO.
