Visceral Mobilization

Visceral mobilization is a manual treatment strategy which helps body organs to regain their natural motion.

Body organs are held in position by fascial tissue. When healthy, the fascial tissue allows organs to perform their natural functions and move in relation to the surrounding structures. If the fascial tissue becomes restricted, organs don’t work efficiently and they can interfere with normal movement.   For example, if the fascial tissue around the liver is restricted, patients may struggle to rotate through the rib cage or take a deep breath. Similarly, fascial restrictions around the sphincters of the gall bladder might limit the movement of bile to the stomach.
